A long-debated issue poignantly looms in the minds of Christians as to whether there are immoral sexual sins too dark and evil to even speak of in the latter-days, as the return of the Lord Jesus to the earth is nigh. Well, as those end times quickly approach, the same sordid unnatural things are quickly happening over decades of time to American towns and cities, as those that happened in the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah over centuries of time. There are, of course, sins, such as bowing down to, and worshiping, other gods, bearing false witness (lying), and murder, and there are other sins that are so unnatural and heinous, such as homosexuality and bestiality, that Elaine Seven deadly sins God did not mention in the Ten Commandments (the Holy law) because he had firmly outlawed them at time he created Adam and Eve and figured that they were so evil that he didn't have to mention them in the Holy Law. Yet, there have been, and currently are, quite a few seemingly educated atheists, agnostics, and secularists who proclaim that the Garden of Eden and Sodom and Gomorrah were fantastical biblical creations of an imaginative mind much like that of Frank Baum and his fictional City of Oz. Yet, many more believers in Jesus Christ and his holy Gospel, true Christians, affirm that Moses' account of the two cities, which over hundreds of years became inexorably sinful and pernicious and were destroyed by God, is historical fact; as factual, in fact, as the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

As I examine the Holy Bible, I see no reason why these two metropolis cities of the ancient world, Sodom and Gomorrah, can't be compared through human nature to any other small contemporary American town, of the 20th Century, that began with a small population of immigrant and migrant human beings seeking to establish homes and livelihoods under the prevailing laws according to the dictates of free will. Yes, the God of the Old Testament, Jesus Christ in the Spirit, endowed upon his human creations, men and women, the freedom to choose between good and evil, right and wrong; and in the beginning of the small, probably rural, Sodom and Gomorrah, a majority of the few people, who comprised their populations, were obedient to the laws set down by God. Yet, like the rebellious people of the newly-freed Israelite nation, who demanded a king to preside over them instead of prophets and judges, the rebellious consenting men and women of Sodom and Gomorrah became dissatisfied with dealing only with representatives of God and created their own systems of laws, which courted human desire over natural law and the express will of God. As the ancient record tells, God had already dealt with the rampant sin of all mankind that had opposed his holy will centuries after the creation, but before the advent of the Prophet Abraham. The Prophet patriarch Noah had been chosen by God to preach repentance unto the entire human race, as it had existed at that time prior to the demise of humanity, and except for Noah and his family (eight souls), the entire population of the earth was deluged and destroyed by a great flood of water. After the flood, God knew that sin would still abound and prevail through the human exercise of free will, but was, thereafter, selective about the destruction that prevailed. Hence, the total destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah had illustrated the anger of God against prevailing sin.

This article is intended to argue the position taken by many 21st Century Christians that the sexual sins named by Paul the Apostle in Ephesians 5:3-4, "But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither foolishness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks," should be ignored and not reproved and addressed before Christian congregations by evangelists, pastors, and ministers; and in godly conversation in homes between fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, and daughters; to essentially separate from the sins and sinners and totally refrain from talking about them. There are also numerous Christians who see contradiction between what Paul stated in Ephesians 5:11, "And have no fellowship with unfruitful workers of darkness, but rather reprove them," and in his admonition in the following verse 12, "For it is a shame to even speak of those things which are done of them in secret." In context, verse 11 is a commandment given by God through Paul to do two very important things: 1) Have no fellowship with people who commit the formerly mentioned vile sexual sins, and 2) Reprove those works of darkness. Verse 12, if read in context, is Paul expressing utter revulsion for the previously mentioned works of darkness, and saying that to just mention those sins, let alone commit them, is shameful. If I might be so bold as to create a rendition of Verses 11 and 12 as an example. I might say, "Homosexuality is a vile sin that must be reproved. Just talking about doing such things is bad enough, let alone committing those awful unnatural acts." This is what I believe that Paul was saying in Verses 11 and 12. For reproof inevitably requires specific verbal and written mention of the sins, and of those who committed them. Hence, if the works of darkness are to be properly reproved, the people who commit those works are also to be reproved, as Paul stated to Timothy, in 2 Timothy 4:2, "Preach the word; be instant in season, and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine." So, moreover, what does the word reprove, and its root word reproof, mean? Webster's New Riverside University Dictionary defines the word reprove as, "To rebuke for a misdeed or fault: scold; or to find fault with." Now, reproof is defined as, "An act of expression of reproving." Both of these definitions convey a necessary verbal, or written, means of human expression.
